Extra-articular stabilization that is solid over time, without knots or crimps.

Cranial cruciate ligament rupture is the main cause of orthopedic consultations in dogs. This condition is usually treated surgically with osteotomy techniques, extra-articular stabilization or intra-articular reconstruction.

In the event of cranial cruciate ligament rupture, the ExtraTape® allows extra-articular reconstruction as close as possible to the isometry of the native ligament, stabilizing the knee rapidly and sustainably without knots or crimps, which is a weakness of more traditional extra-articular stabilization techniques. They are here replaced by solid bone anchoring using an interference screw.

FAQ

Why use interference screws for fixation?

Interference screws provide immediate, atraumatic fixation for the implant and are fully fixed in the bone. They reduce the risks of irritation and early laceration thanks to a large knot.
The mechanical resistance of this type of fixation has made it a gold standard in many human medicine applications.
