The association of cold and compression has proven very efficient in both human and veterinary medicine.
It helps manage pain and inflammation, and prevents the appearance of edema after trauma or surgery.
The use of compressive cold has been shown to have the following effects in dogs:
– it increases the patient’s range of motion in the first 24 hours, 48 hours but also at 42 days postoperatively.
– patients have less pain and lameness on day 1 after surgery.
